#229 Houndoom

Hey all!

I have come back with a houndoom pattern this time. This pattern does use a very small amount of shortrows. So you may wish to look up a video on how this works if you haven't crochet'd them before. If you follow the steps I provide, it should be pretty easy. I've included some pictures but sometimes a video is the best way to see how to work them.

This plush is made with DK weight yarn in black, grey, white and orange. I use a G size 4.00mm hook.

Head
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24)
Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30)
Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36)
Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42)
Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48)
Round 9 - 16: SCx48 (48, 8 rounds)
Round 17: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42)
Round 18: [SC2tog, SCx5]x6 (36)
Round 19: [SC2tog, SCx4]x6 (30)
Round 20: [SC2tog, SCx3]x6 (24)
Round 21: [SC2tog, SCx2]x6 (18)
Stuff firmly.
Round 22: [SC2tog, SC]x6 (12)
Round 23: SC2togx6 (6)
Sew closed and finish.

Mouth
Orange
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3 - 9: SCx12 (12, 7 rounds)
Leave a long tail to sew to the muzzle piece.

Muzzle
In orange
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4 - 10: SCx18 (18. 7 rounds)
Round 11: SC, HDCx3, SCx3, chx5 (from 2nd chain from hook) SCx4, (back in the muzzle piece), SCx2, HDCx3, SCx6 (24)
Round 12: SC, HDCx3, SCx3, (picking up the 4 stitches going up the chain you created) SCx4, (going down the other side of the chain where you SC last time) SCx4, (back into the main piece) SCx2, HDCx3, SCx6 (26)
Round 13: SC, HDCx3, SCx13, HDCx3, SCx6 (26)
Stuff the nose part firmly. When you sew the piece to the face, stretch the HDC parts slightly so that the part that joins to the head is nicely rounded. I also shaped the top point (where the chains are) a little to give a pointier look. The HDC parts are all sewn flat to the head for the shape. Then flatten the mouth piece and sew to the head.

Nose
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: (2SC, SC)x3 (9)
Sew to the tip of the nose piece.

Horns
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: SCx6 (6)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x3 (9)
Round 4 - 5: front loop only SCx4, (both loops) SCx5 (9, 2 rounds)
Round 6: front loop only [2SC, SCx2], both loops [2SC, SCx2]x2 (12)
Round 7 - 11: front loop only SCx6, both loops SCx6 (12. 5 rounds)
Round 12: front loop only [2SC, SCx3]x2, both loops [2SC, SCx3] (15)
We’re going to switch to short rows now to make the horn turn.
Row 1:SCx8, chain and turn
Row 2: SCx8, chain and turn
Row 3: SCx7, chain and turn
Row 4: SCx6, chain and turn
Row 5: SCx5, chain and turn
Row 6: SCx4, chain and turn
Round 13: SCx4, pick up the 2 stitches from the “steps” of the to rounds below then crochet into the next stitch from round 12 to continue, SCx7
Round 14: pick up the 2 stitches from the “steps” of the two rounds above, then SC into the top round to continue, SCx13
Stuff, shape into the curved horn shape and sew to the head.

The following few images show a little insight into the shortrounds.

Eyes
White
Chainx6
Row 1: starting from 2nd chain from the hook, SCx5, chain and turn
Row 2: SS, SC, HDC, DCx2
Sew onto the head.

Orange
Round 1: CH2, SCx3 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (3)
Sew onto the white piece. I then needlefelted some black into the centre.

Body
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24)
Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30)
Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36)
Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42)
Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48)
Round 9 - 23: SCx48 (48, 15 rounds)
In the next round,, you may want to use thread to leave a mark 10 stitches in so you can see where the orange stomach patch should go.
Round 24: [SC2tog, SCx6]x3, SCx24 (45)
Round 25: [SC2tog, SCx6]x3, SCx21 (42)
Round 26: [SC2tog, SCx5]x3 SCx21 (39)
Round 27: [SC2tog, SCx5]x3 SCx18 (36)
Round 28 - 32: SCx36 (36. 5 rounds)
Round 29: [SC2tog, SCx4]x6 (30)
Round 30: [SC2tog, SCx3]x6 (24)
Stuff to hold its shape. Don’t stuff too firmly or you’ll lose the light shaping around the stomach area.
Round 31: [SC2tog, SCx2]x6 (18)
Round 32: [SC2tog, SC]x6 (12)
Round 33: SC2togx6 (6)
Sew closed. Round 33 is where the tail would be attached.

Neck
Leave a long tail at the start.
Chainx30, join and crochet in the round.
Round 1 - 5: SCx30 (30, 5 rounds)
Row 1: SCx12, chain and turn
Row 2: SCx12, chain and turn
Row 3: SCx11, chain and turn
Row 4: SCx10, chain and turn
Round 6: SCx10, pick up the stitch on the next step down, then continue on the next round, SCx18 then continue on past the stitch marker to pick up the stitch in the next step up and then crochet into the top level to complete the round.
Sew the neck piece onto the body so that the rows are on the front of the chest. When sewing it on, make sure the marked thread is facing down for the bottom of the stomach.  Then stuff gently and sew the head piece.

Orange Stomach Patch
Row 1: Chain 2, SC in the 2nd stitch from the hook, chain and turn
Row 2: 2SC, chain and turn (2)
Row 3: 2SCx2, chain and turn (4)
Row 4-5: SCx4, chain and turn (4)
Row 6: [2SC, SC]x2 (6)
Finish off.

Row 1: Chain 2, SC in the 2nd stitch from the hook, chain and turn
Row 2: 2SC, chain and turn (2)
Row 3: 2SCx2, chain and turn (4)
Row 4-5: SCx4, chain and turn (4)
Row 6: [2SC, SC]x2 , chain and turn (6)
Row 7: SCx6, then insert your hook into the first stitch on the last row of the last piece SCx6, chain and turn (12)
Row 8: SCx12, chain and turn (12)
Row 9: 2SC, SCx10, 2SC, chain and turn (14)

Row 15 - 28: SCx16, chain and turn (16, 14 rows)
Row 29: [SC2tog, SCx2]x4, chain and turn (12)
Row 30: [SC2tog, SC]x4, chain and turn (8)
Row 31: SC2togx4, chain and turn (4)
Row 32: SC2togx2, chain and turn (2)
Row 33: SC2tog
Either finish off and sew onto the stomach or SC around the entire piece for a nicer edge and then sew to the stomach. I added a border around the edge in my piece.

Front legs
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3 - 10: SCx12 (12, 7 rounds)
Round 11: [2SC, SC]x3, SCx6 (15)
Round 12 - 19: SCx15 (15, 8 rounds)
Stuff firmly and then sew at an angle to the body. A part of the leg will be folded over slightly for a nice fit. The increases in round 11 should be facing forward.

Back Legs
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3 - 12: SCx12 (12, 9 rounds)
Round 13: [2SC, SC]x3, SCx6 (15)

Round 15: [2SC, SCx2]x3, SCx9 (21)
Round 16 - 20: SCx21 (21, 5 rounds)

Anklets
Make 8
Chain 14, join and crochet in the round
Row 1 - 2: SCx14 (12, 2 rounds)
Fold in half and sew round 2 to the original chain round. Slip onto the leg part.

Feet
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: 2SCx3, SCx3, 2SCx3, SCx3 (18)
Round 4 - 5 :SCx18 (18, 2 rounds)
Round 6: [SC2tog, SC]x3, SCx9 (15)
Round 7: [SC2tog, SC]x2, SCx9 (13)
Stuff and sew to the legs.

Claws
Round 1: CH2, SCx4 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (4)
This creates a semi circle. Fold that in half and sew it so it’s a claw shape and sew to the foot.

Orange Pad
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Sew to the bottom of the foot.

Tail
point
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: SCx6 (6)
Round 3: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 4 - 5: SCx12 (12, 2 rounds)
Row 1: fold in half and SC through the stitches on both layers. SCx5 (5)
Finish off and leave a tail to sew to the long tail part.

Length
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2 - xx: SCx6
Keep crocheting in the round until you get to about half the length you want the tail to be. I kept going until about 7.5cm (3 inches).
Then, every 2 rounds add one 2SC. To the point where 1 round is 9 stitches. Keep crocheting until you reach the full tail length.

Chest Ornament
Grey
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: SCx12 (12)
Sew to the chest and stuff lightly. Felt on the black eye shapes. It looks like an alien face to me.

Neck and Back Embellishments
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Then keep crocheting in the round until you have the length you need. Mine was about 20 rounds.
Sew one around the next and the other three over the back.

Avatar Crochet : Momo

Hello! I am back with another pattern. This was made as a gift for a friend of mine who I hope will find this to be a great surprise. As I was making it, I thought it would be nice tonote down the pattern and post it here. Apologies, some of the photos are quite yellow as they were taken at night and the last photo I got of him isn't the best as it was taken with a lot of junk in the background but it's the best finished photo I have of him. The first few photos he also has wonky eyes coz I kind of rushed it. But I fixed that up for the later photos...as I couldn't stand it. This makes a plush from DK weight yarn that is 35 cm (just under 14 inch) tall and the tail is 35cm (13 and a half inches) long. With the weigh his legs and feet are made and with the tail for support, Momo can stand by himself. Apologies if I got anything wrong, I personally don't watch Avatar so everything was from pictures! Here we go with the pattern: Momo DK weight yarn in white, ...

#778 Mimikyu

Hello all!! I've been mysteriously quiet lately but I've been very productive. Just lazy when it comes to actually resizing my images and putting these patterns up. I have a backlog of actual patterns to put up so I'll work through them slowly. I figure I would come back with one that a lot of people have been happy with. This Mimikyu is 30.5cm (12 inches) tall from base to the tip of its crooked ear. Features are needlefelted on and everything is sewn on and attached so there are no hard parts.  Head/Body Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9: [2SC, SCx7]x6 (54) Round 10: [2SC, SCx8]x6 (60) Round 11 - 20: SCx60 (60, 10 rounds) Round 21: [SC2tog, SCx8]x6 (54) Round 22: [SC2tog, SCx7]x6 (48) Round 23: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42)  ...
