Daring Cooks March: Dressing it up!

For March’s Daring Cooks’ Challenge, Ruth, Shelley and Sawsan asked us to totally veg out! We made salads and dressings, letting the sky be the limit as we created new flavors and combinations that reflect our own unique tastes.

I'm completely late with posting this one! But I thought I would still throw it up since I did actually do the challenge.

For this one, I decided to go with a caesar dressing. After making it, I thought of a few tweaks I might add for next time!

I followed the recipe that I found here

Ingredients
100g sourdough baguette, cut into 1cm cubes.
3 rashers of bacon, cut up
1/2 cos lettuce
50g shaved cheeses

Dressing
1 egg yolk
1 tsp dijon mustard
1 large garlic clove (next time I do this, I'm going to cook the garlic to get the sweetness instead)
2 anchovies, chopped
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
1/4 and 2tbs olive oil

This is really really easy to make. After this, you will never buy dressing again because you can throw it together with what you have in the kitchen.

Firstly, in a food processor add all of your dressing ingredients except the oil. Start blitzing it. After the ingredients are mixed together, drizzle the oil in slowly. When all the oil is in, let it mix for another few minutes and the dressing is done!

Have a quick taste and season with salt and pepper to your liking. :)

For the bacon, cut into cube slices like this and then cook in a frying pan until it is all crispy.

I used a little toaster grill to toast the baguette pieces while the bacon was cooking. I did season with a bit of salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil for this too.

Then prepare your cos lettuce leaves. I took off the little icky bits you can see there, should have taken a better photo but by this time I was so hungry! I then also did cut the leaves a little so they weren't so big.

Combine everything and you have a tasty tasty salad! ENJOY!

#725 Litten

Hey all! Sorry for being slow! I have had quite a few patterns that I've been sitting on while I worked on new projects so I'm slowly going to post them all over the following weeks starting with this black fire cat! Litten length nose to tail end: 30.5cm (12 inches) and height going from tip of the ear down to feet: 26cm (10 inches) tall. Made from DK weight yarn and a little bit of felting materials for the eyes. Or you can just felt down yarn or even just embroider on the eyes. I also used the felting tools to flatten down the forehead markings and the eyes. Head Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9: [2SC, SCx7]x6 (54) Round 10: [2SC, SCx8]x6 (60) Round 11 - 16: Scx60 (60, 6 rounds) Round 17 - 18: SCx10, change to red/orange...

#778 Mimikyu

Hello all!! I've been mysteriously quiet lately but I've been very productive. Just lazy when it comes to actually resizing my images and putting these patterns up. I have a backlog of actual patterns to put up so I'll work through them slowly. I figure I would come back with one that a lot of people have been happy with. This Mimikyu is 30.5cm (12 inches) tall from base to the tip of its crooked ear. Features are needlefelted on and everything is sewn on and attached so there are no hard parts.  Head/Body Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9: [2SC, SCx7]x6 (54) Round 10: [2SC, SCx8]x6 (60) Round 11 - 20: SCx60 (60, 10 rounds) Round 21: [SC2tog, SCx8]x6 (54) Round 22: [SC2tog, SCx7]x6 (48) Round 23: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42)  ...
