Pokemon #58 - Growlithe [Part 1]

So my current project is growlithe. If any of the pattern is hard to follow, please feel free to comment or email me any questions and I'll try to help in every way that I can short of taking a video. :) I'm good with photos and explanations but I don't video. Maybe one day I'll be convinced to but right now is not the day.

This is going to be a medium level project. You will need to know how to colour change (there will be quite a bit of colour change in the body), increase, decrease and sew pieces together. You will also need to know how to loop stitch as I'll be introducing the way I do fur in this tutorial. It's a lot to take in but I hope I explain it easily enough for you to follow.

This is what I started with. My crochet is all going to be in bulky yarn except for where I specify. For smaller details I'll switch to a DK weight yarn but you can also do your detailing with felt if you prefer and glue/sew the details on. I crochet with a G/8 - 4.0mm size hook but there won't be a gauge, just make sure you're crocheting consistently and the plush should come out correct.

After taking this picture, I put the black bulky weight yarn away and switched it out for black DK weight yarn. You'll see why later. :)

Legend (This is all US crochet terminology)
* SC - Single crochet
* SC2tog - Single crochet two stitches together
* SCx[A] - Single crochet A amount of times
* [SCxA]xB - repeat whatever is in the bracket B amount of times
* [A]SC - single crochet A times in the same stitch
* LS - loop stitch
* SS - Slip stitch
* HDC - Half double crochet
* CH - chain
* When I write my colour change, I will write "change to <colour>", that means the next stitch is the new colour.
Eg, SCx3 (change to white) SC
It means on the last stitch of the x3 you will change to white and the SC is the first stitch in white.
* The number in the brackets is how many stitches should be in that round

Head
Ch 2
Round 1. In the 2nd ch from the hook, SCx6 (6)
Round 2. 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3. [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4. [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24)
Round 5. [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30)
Round 6. [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36)
Round 7. [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42)
Round 8 - 14. SCx42 (42, 7 rounds)
Round 15. [SC2tog, SCx5] (36)
Round 16 - 20. SCx36 (36, 5 rounds)
Finish and leave a long tail.

Mouth
Ch 11
Round 1. Starting with the second ch from the hook, SCx9, 3SC (crochet around that last chain so it continues in an oval shape and pick up the leftoverloops on the other side), SCx9, 3SC (24)
Round 2. 2SC, SCx8, 2SCx3, SCx10, 2SCx2 (30)
Round 3. 2SC, SCx9, [2SC, SC]x3, SCx10, [2SC, SC]x2 (36)
Round 4. HDCx4, SSx8, HDCx4, SCx20 (36)
Leave a long tail. Sew this to the head with the HDC on the top side. Shape it while you sew it down so that it bulges out slightly. I sewed it on so that the white rows equalled to one less row in the orange so the white puffed out when I stuffed it.

To do this I lined up the bottom of the white muzzle piece to be one row beneath the orange of the head. Then after I've sewn the top on, I pushed up the bottom so that it puffed out when I sewed the bottom down. I stuffed it when I only had the last round part left to sew down.

It may look a little strange now but the muzzle will look nicer and rounder when the head is stuffed :)

Nose
(with DK yarn)
Ch 2
Round 1. In the 2nd ch from the hook, SCx6 (6)
Round 2. 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3. Scx12 (12)
Leave a very long tail so you can also use it to embroider the mouth on. When you sew the nose onto the muzzle, you can also press it slightly into a triangle shape and stuff it a little bit.

One day I will get myself a proper camera I swear.

Eyes
(with DK yarn)
Ch 7
Row 1. With the 2nd Ch from the hook, SCx6. Ch and turn. (6)
Row 2. SC2tog, Scx4, Ch and turn. (5)
Row 3. SCx3, SC2tog. Ch and turn. (4)
Row 4. SC2tog, SCx2. Ch and turn. (3)
Row 5. SC, SC2tog. Ch and turn. (2)
Row 6. SC2tog. (1)

Eyes
(with DK black)
Round 1. In the 2nd ch from the hook, SCx6 (6)
Round 2. 2SCx3 (9)
Leave a tail, stretch into a slightly oval shape and sew onto the white triangle.

Eyes
(With DK white)
Round 1. In the 2nd ch from the hook, SCx3 (3)
Leave a tail and sew onto the black round above.

That's it so far for the growlithe. Next post will be how to do the mohawk, and the ears. I'm separating those two parts out because the mohawk itself is going to have a long tutorial on how to make it all pretty. And the ears I've decided to tackle after a good night sleep.

Hope it's been easy to follow so far!

#778 Mimikyu

Hello all!! I've been mysteriously quiet lately but I've been very productive. Just lazy when it comes to actually resizing my images and putting these patterns up. I have a backlog of actual patterns to put up so I'll work through them slowly. I figure I would come back with one that a lot of people have been happy with. This Mimikyu is 30.5cm (12 inches) tall from base to the tip of its crooked ear. Features are needlefelted on and everything is sewn on and attached so there are no hard parts.  Head/Body Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9: [2SC, SCx7]x6 (54) Round 10: [2SC, SCx8]x6 (60) Round 11 - 20: SCx60 (60, 10 rounds) Round 21: [SC2tog, SCx8]x6 (54) Round 22: [SC2tog, SCx7]x6 (48) Round 23: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42)

Clefairy (Pokedoll style)

Hello! I come with another pattern that isn't being added to the pokedex library as this one is done in pokedoll (cute and round) style rather than based on the original dex image. But this one is really quick and easy to work up! I made this with DK weight yarn and my usual 4.00 size hook. The plush works up to be 18cm (7 inches) tall and 21cm (about 8 1/2 inches) arm span! Body Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9: [2SC, SCx7]x6 (54) Round 10: [2SC, SCx8]x6 (60) Round 11: [2SC, SCx9]x6 (66) Round 12: [2SC, SCx10]x6 (72) Round 13 - 26: SCx72 (72, 14 rounds) Round 27: [SC2tog, SCx10]x6 (66) Round 28: [SC2tog, SCx9]x6 (60) Round 29: [SC2tog, SCx8]x6 (54) Round 30: [SC2tog, SCx7]x6 (48) Round 31: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42) Ro

#359 Absol

Hey! I come here with a cute absol pattern for you guys this time! If you're enjoying all my pattern posts, please consider supporting me! Absol took a few rework to get it to look how I wanted it to. This one takes a little more fiddling so you may wish to start with one of my other patterns (such as some of the eeveelutions or the pokedoll clefairy) if you're new to crochet! And here's the pattern: Head Blue Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6(42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9 - 13: SCx48 (48, 5 rounds) Round 14: SCx42, 2SC, SCx5 (49)  Round 15: SCx42, 2SCx2, SCx5 (51) Round 16: SCx44, 2SCx3, SCx4 (54) Round 17: [SC2tog, SCx7]x6 (48) Round 18: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42) Round 19: [SC2tog, SCx5]x6 (36) Round 20: [SC2tog, SCx4]x6 (30) Round 21: [SC2tog, SCx3]x6 (24) Round
