Eating healthy!

The next update will be a crochet related one! I've been wokring hard on the pikachu glove pattern and it's coming close now. I have the final facial features to go and then I can post up the pattern.

I've been eating healthy recently to try and get my weight down for my wedding next year but also for my body to be just generally healthier. My Thermomix has been great for making this easier for me. I know what goes into just about all of my food (I'm not exactly a fanatic, I still buy some sauces and such) and I can cook easily and quickly. This is a huge help for me between work, study and designing crochet patterns.

It's quite easy to see my love of Japan and particularly Japanese food. It's quick to cook, healthy and delicious.

I have adapted one of Just One Cookbook's recipes to be Thermomix (partially) friendly. It's still finished off on the stove top. So I wanted to share it with you guys today.

It's the Japanese Hamburger recipe served with rice and steamed vegetables.

Ingredients
Meat Patties
200g Pork Midloin (1 fillet)
200g Beef Scotch fillet (1 fillet) [The two fillets I used added up to be closer to 550g]
1 large onion
2 cloves of garlic
15g oil
1 egg
2 Tbsp milk
20g Panko breadcrumbs
Salt and Pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Cooking meat patties
1 Tbsp oil
1/4 cup red wine

Sauce
15g butter
3 Tbsp red wine
3 Tbsp water
3 Tbsp tomato sauce
3 Tbsp wocestershire sauce

Method
1. Cut the meat into cubes and place into freezer for about 20 - 30 minutes.
2. Add to Thermomix bowl and mince 20 seconds speed 7. Remove from bowl.
3. Add garlic and onion. Chop 5 seconds speed 7. Scrape down.
4, Add 15g oil and saute 3 minutes 120C Speed 1. Take off the lid and allow to cool 10 - 15 minutes.
5. Add remainder of the meat patties ingredients and then add the meat mince back on top.
6. Combine 10 seconds Reverse Speed 4. If you like, scrape down and repeat.
7. Mold into oval shaped meat patties.
The rest of the steps are the same as Just One Cookbook so please go to that website as I really recommend her recipes. I cook a lot from the recipes there and her instructions are great.

While I am cooking the meat patties on the stove, my Thermomix is cooking the rice and steaming the vegetables at the same time so everything is hot to eat together.

Avatar Crochet : Momo

Hello! I am back with another pattern. This was made as a gift for a friend of mine who I hope will find this to be a great surprise. As I was making it, I thought it would be nice tonote down the pattern and post it here. Apologies, some of the photos are quite yellow as they were taken at night and the last photo I got of him isn't the best as it was taken with a lot of junk in the background but it's the best finished photo I have of him. The first few photos he also has wonky eyes coz I kind of rushed it. But I fixed that up for the later photos...as I couldn't stand it. This makes a plush from DK weight yarn that is 35 cm (just under 14 inch) tall and the tail is 35cm (13 and a half inches) long. With the weigh his legs and feet are made and with the tail for support, Momo can stand by himself. Apologies if I got anything wrong, I personally don't watch Avatar so everything was from pictures! Here we go with the pattern: Momo DK weight yarn in white, ...

#778 Mimikyu

Hello all!! I've been mysteriously quiet lately but I've been very productive. Just lazy when it comes to actually resizing my images and putting these patterns up. I have a backlog of actual patterns to put up so I'll work through them slowly. I figure I would come back with one that a lot of people have been happy with. This Mimikyu is 30.5cm (12 inches) tall from base to the tip of its crooked ear. Features are needlefelted on and everything is sewn on and attached so there are no hard parts.  Head/Body Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9: [2SC, SCx7]x6 (54) Round 10: [2SC, SCx8]x6 (60) Round 11 - 20: SCx60 (60, 10 rounds) Round 21: [SC2tog, SCx8]x6 (54) Round 22: [SC2tog, SCx7]x6 (48) Round 23: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42)  ...
