#750 Mudsdale

Hey all!

Been working at it and have finally finished up a new pattern which was also a commission. So grateful for people who think that my work is worth paying for.

Mudsdale works up to be about 25cm long and 18cm tall when worked with DK weight yarn. This pattern can get quite difficult to work with as I wanted to get all the little details in. The black on the hooves and the nostrils are all indented in so when you poke them, there's a gap there. The tail is also made with the crack.

The eyes are felted on after the eye pieces are sewn on so placement is easier.

The legs are a little difficult as the increase/decreases are crocheted into the piece and you'll need to squash it down and then eyeball to sew it down so that it remains in place.

The text instructions are included here. If you would like the full pattern including all of the step by step images please click the button to purchase from my Ravelry:

This is one of the patterns I've written that would really benefit from seeing the images for construction due to the complexity of some of the pieces.

Chainx5
Row 1: From the 2nd chain from the hook, SCx4, CH and
turn (4)
Row 2 - 4: SCx4, CH and turn (4, 3)
Row 6: back loop only, SCx4, CH and turn (4)
Row 7: Crochet through both loops plus the leftover

Round 1: In a magic circle, SCx6 (6)
Round 2: INCx6 (12)
Round 3: [INC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4: Front loop only [INC, SCx2]x4, CH and turn (16)
Round 5: Crochet through both loops plus the leftover loop from round 4. DEC, SCx12, DEC, CH and turn (14)
Round 6 - 7: SCx14, CH and turn (14, 2)
Round 8: SCx14, join to the first orange piece and SCx4 along the top of the piece (along row 1). (18)
Continue crocheting in the round to continue up the leg.
Round 9: SCx18 (18)

There are 6 unworked stitches on piece 2 in round 4. Attach the last row of piece 1 onto the middle 4 stitches. This creates a hoof piece with a gap. Sew one of the black insert pieces into each of the gaps with the right side facing out. Stuff lightly, ensuring the black parts indent into the hoof.

Round 10: front loop only [INC, SCx2]x6 (24)
Round 11: both loops [INC, SCx3]x6 (30)
Round 12: SCx30 (30)

Round 19: [DEC, SCx2]x6 (18)
Round 20 - 21: SCx18 (18, 2)
Round 22: [DEC, SCx4]x3 (15) change colour to brown
but leave a tail of the orange yarn for some sewing
later on.
Round 23 - 25: SCx15 (15, 3)
Flatten the increase/decrease areas of the orange rounds so you create a few pancake shapes. Use the leftover orange tail to sew a few points holding rounds 14 and 15 together. That way the two pieces still look separate but they don’t stretch out when you stuff.

Stuff the leg. Stop here for the two front legs. Leave a tail for sewing.

Round 26: [INC, SCx4]x3 (18)
Round 27: [INC, SCx5]x3 (21)
Stuff firmly up to round 25. Flatten the last few rounds and sew onto the back part of the body.

Round 21: [DEC, SCx6]x3, SCx24 (45)
Round 22: [DEC, SCx6]x3, SCx21 (42)
Leave a stitch marker on stitch 10. This is the top of where the nose/mouth piece will join later on.
Round 23 - 24: SCx42 (42, 2)
Round 25: [DEC, SCx5]x6 (36)
Round 26: [DEC, SCx4]x6 (30)
Round 27: [DEC, SCx3]x6 (24)
Round 28: [DEC, SCx2]x6 (18)

Stuff firmly.
Round 29: [DEC, SC]x6 (12)
Round 30: DECx6
Sew the last stitches closed and then sew onto the head. When you’re looking at the face, the stitch marker from round 22 should be at the top.

Nostrils
(Black)
Make 2
Round 1: SCx6 (6)
Round 2: [INC, SC]x3 (9)
Round 3: SCx9 (9)
Leave a tail for sewing.

Nose

Round 6: [INC, SCx4]x6 (36)
Round 7 - 9: SCx36 (36, 3)
Round 10: SCx36, CH and turn (36)
Leave a stitch marker on round 10 where the first stitch would have been if you continued in the round. This will help with top of the piece later.

Round 11 - 13: SCx25, CH and turn (25, 3)
Round 14: DEC, SCx21, DEC (23)
Round 15: DEC, SCx19, DEC (21)
Finish off and leave a tail for sewing.

(Orange)
Go back to the previous stitch marker that was left on round 10. Skip the stitch that the marker is in and pull up a loop.
Round 11 - 13: SCx9, CH and turn (9, 3)
Round 14: DEC, SCx5, DEC CH and turn (7)
Round 15 - 16: SCx7, CH and turn (7, 2)
Round 17: DEC, SCx3, DEC, CH and turn (5)
Round 18 - 19: SCx5, CH and turn (5, 2)
Round 20: DEC, SC DEC, CH and turn (3)
Round 21 - 22: SCx3 (3, 2)
Round 23: Decrease 3 stitches into one.
Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Sew the nostrils into the V shaped gaps where the chain and turns are in the first part but don’t finish off the black yarn yet as this is used to stitch to the head later. The nostrils should be a triangle shape  with two long sides sewn onto the orange and the short side left unsewn.

Stuff firmly. Sew into the head with the pointy part going up into the forehead. The orange nose part will sit out slightly from the brown nose part to complete the shape of the head. The black yarn tails are used to sew the nostrils onto the head.

Back Stripe
(Dark Grey / Black)
Row 1: CHx6, from the 2nd CH from the hook, SCx5. CH and turn (5)
Row 2 - 61: SCx5, CH and turn (5, 60)
Depending on how your plush is stuffed, you may need to make your back stripe longer or shorter. Sew onto the plush with one edge next to the orange tip of the nose and the other ending where the til is attached.

Eye Patch
(Black)
Make 2
Row 1: CHx13, from the 2nd chain from the hook, SCx12, CH and turn (12)
Row 2 - 3: SCx12, CH and turn (12, 2)
Row 4: SCx12 (12)
Row 5: CHx18, insert the hook into the 10th stitch, SCx2, CH and turn (20)
Row 6: SCx20, SCx3 into the side of the original turns, CH and turn (23)
Row 7: SCx23, SCx5 along the other edge, CH and turn (28)
Row 8: [INC, SCx3]x6, SCx4 (34)
Row 9: SCx4, [INC, SCx4]x6(40)
Leave a long tail. Sew onto the head so one side touches on the pointy orange part. The rest of the piece may feel a little lumpy but it’ll smooth down around the slope of the head when sewn down. This also rounds off the corner parts of the back stripe as the eye patches will cover over those sharp corners.

Felt in the eye with white and black.

Mane
(Orange)
Make 5

CHx5
Round 1: From the 2nd CH from the hook, SCx3, SC 4 times in the next CH and continue around to the other side, SCx2, INC (11)
Round 2: INC, SCx3, INCx2, SCx4, INC (15)
Round 3 - 7: SCx15 (15, 5) 123
Stuff firmly and weave in the tail.

(Dark Grey / Black)
Make 5
CH7
Row 1: From the 2nd CH from the hook, SCx6, CH and turn (6)
Row 2: SCx6, CH and turn (6)
Keep repeating Row 2 until the black piece is long enough to wrap horizontally around one of the orange pieces. Leave a long tail.

One of the pieces should be slightly shorter than the rest as the first piece should show some orange at the front. The rest will be fully enclosed with orange only showing at the top.

Sew the dark piece around the top about one stitch down so that it opens up slightly from the orange. Then sew the bottom to the head. The pieces should fit snugly from the tip of the orange nose piece to where the head joins the body.

Ears
(Dark Grey / Black)
Make 2
Round 1: In a magic circle, SCx6 (6)
Round 2: SCx6 (6)
Round 3: [INC, SC]x3 (9)
Round 4 - 5: SCx9 (9, 2)
Round 6: [INC, SCx2]x3 (12)
Round 7 - 12: SCx12 (12, 6)
Finish off with a tail for sewing later.

(Pink)
Make 2
CHx4
Round 1: From the 2nd CH from the hook, SCx2, 4xSC in the same CH and continue crocheting around the other side, SC, INC (9)
Leave a tail. Sew the pink piece into the black piece. Then fold the bottom 4 rows of the black piece together and sew closed. Then sew onto the head.

I left a really long tail on one of the ears and then used that tail to sew on a mouth.

Mane Extensions
(Orange)
Make 6
Round 1: In a magic circle, SCx6 (6)
Round 2: INCx6 (12)
Round 3: (Front loop only) [INCx3, SCx3]x2 (18)
Round 4: (through both loops as well as the remaining
loop from previous round) SCx18 (18)
Round 5: SCx18 (18)
Round 6: SCx2, DECx3, SCx10 (15)
Round 7: SCx15 (15)
Round 8: DECx3, SCx9 (12)
Stuff firmly.
Round 9: DECx6 (6)
Sew the last stitches closed and finish off the thread.
(Dark Grey / Black)
Make 6
Round 1: In a magic circle, SCx6 (6)
Round 2: INCx6 (12)
Round 3: SCx12 (12)
Round 4: HDC, DC, 2x TC in the same stitch, 2x DC in the same stitch, HDC, SC, HDC, 2x DC in the same stitch, 2x TC in the same stitch, DC, HDC, SC.

Finish off and sew onto the first orange piece. The increase and decreases will look nicer if you sew  them in a slightly different position for each braid, that way they’ll each look somewhat unique to each other. After sewing on, don’t end the yarn yet as this will be used to sew onto the braid.

Mane Extensions
(Dark Grey / Black)
Make 6
Round 1: In a magic circle, SCx6 (6)
Round 2: INCx6 (12)
Round 3: [INC, SC]x6 (18)

Round 8: SCx6
Round 9 INCx6 (12)
Round 10 - 11: SCx12 (12, 2)
Stuff firmly.
Round 10: DECx6 (6)
Sew the last stitches closed and finish off with a tail. Sew the orange part onto the Round 1 of this extension piece. Sew three pieces on each side of the head with the decrease rounds of the orange part facing forward.

Tail
(Orange)
Row 1: In a magic circle, SCx3, CH and turn (3)
Row 2: INCx3, CH and turn (6)
Row 3: [INC, SC]x3, CH and turn (9)

(Black)
CHx8
Make 2
Row 1: From the 2nd chain from the hook, SCx7, CH
and turn (7)
Row 2 - 4: SCx7, CH and turn (7, 3)
Sew one of these black pieces onto the first orange piece. Finish off and leave the second black piece for the orange piece coming up.

(Black)
Round 1: In a magic circle, SCx6 (6)
Round 2 - 3: SCx6 (6, 2)
Finish off and leave a tail for sewing.

Tail
(Orange)
Row 1: In a magic circle, SCx3, CH and turn (3)
Row 2: INCx3, CH and turn (6)
Row 3: [INC, SC]x3, CH and turn (9)

Row 7: SCx6, in the chains, DEC, SC, DEC, SCx6, CH and turn (15)
Row 8 - 10: SCx15, CH and turn (15, 3)
Don’t finish off the orange yarn. Sew the small black piece into the hold left by the skipped stitches in
round 6. Sew the leftover black rectangle into the same spot as the other piece. Then finish off by sewing the two tops of the black pieces together. This creates the hoof bottom.

Then pick up from round 10 and continue.

Round 11: Crochet into the other piece to continue the round, SCx15, then crochet back into the original round, SCx15 (30)
Round 12: [DEC, SCx3]x6 (24)
Round 13: [DEC, SCx2]x6 (18)
Round 14: [DEC, SC]x6 (12)

#778 Mimikyu

Hello all!! I've been mysteriously quiet lately but I've been very productive. Just lazy when it comes to actually resizing my images and putting these patterns up. I have a backlog of actual patterns to put up so I'll work through them slowly. I figure I would come back with one that a lot of people have been happy with. This Mimikyu is 30.5cm (12 inches) tall from base to the tip of its crooked ear. Features are needlefelted on and everything is sewn on and attached so there are no hard parts.  Head/Body Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5: [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) Round 6: [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36) Round 7: [2SC, SCx5]x6 (42) Round 8: [2SC, SCx6]x6 (48) Round 9: [2SC, SCx7]x6 (54) Round 10: [2SC, SCx8]x6 (60) Round 11 - 20: SCx60 (60, 10 rounds) Round 21: [SC2tog, SCx8]x6 (54) Round 22: [SC2tog, SCx7]x6 (48) Round 23: [SC2tog, SCx6]x6 (42)

Avatar Crochet : Momo

Hello! I am back with another pattern. This was made as a gift for a friend of mine who I hope will find this to be a great surprise. As I was making it, I thought it would be nice tonote down the pattern and post it here. Apologies, some of the photos are quite yellow as they were taken at night and the last photo I got of him isn't the best as it was taken with a lot of junk in the background but it's the best finished photo I have of him. The first few photos he also has wonky eyes coz I kind of rushed it. But I fixed that up for the later photos...as I couldn't stand it. This makes a plush from DK weight yarn that is 35 cm (just under 14 inch) tall and the tail is 35cm (13 and a half inches) long. With the weigh his legs and feet are made and with the tail for support, Momo can stand by himself. Apologies if I got anything wrong, I personally don't watch Avatar so everything was from pictures! Here we go with the pattern: Momo DK weight yarn in white,
