Hey!
I'm back with another free pattern today! Have been working on one big 3x plush commission so that took me a while and kept me busy. Now that I'm a little free again, I should have some free patterns coming up :)
More pokemon hopefully!
The other night I went to a final fantasy concert and that has inspired this little cutie that I have been wanting to make for a long time now.
If you would like to purchase, this particular chocobo, I have him up for sale here on Etsy.
Chocobo Pattern
When finished, this little chocobo is about 17cm (almost 7inches) tall when made from DK yarn. I didn't put any wiring in the legs but he is still able to stand on his own given the right circumstances. If you want a really study chocobo, then you can wire the legs.
To make him, I used:
DK Yarn - yellow, white, orange, cream
G/6 – 4.0mm crochet hook
12mm plastic blue eyes
Stuffing
Eyes
make 2
(white)
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Leave a long tail. Attach the 12mm eyes and then attach to the head. I put the eyes slightly off centre. Attach them how you would prefer.
Wings
make 2
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4 - 7: SCx18 (18, 4 rounds)
Round 8: [SC2tog, SC]x6 (12)
Round 9: SCx12 (12)
Stuff gently so there is a slight bulge in the wing shape.
Round 10: SC2togx6 (6)
Sew closed and leave a tail to sew to the body.
Wing tips, one for forehead and three for the back of the head
make 10
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: SCx6 (6)
Round 3: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 4 - 5: SCx12 (12, 2 rounds)
Round 6: SC2togx6 (6)
Leave a tail on each. Sew three tips to each of the wings (on the narrow end) and then sew the wings to the body. Sew the last 5 tips onto the head. One on the forehead and four to the back of the head.
To sew on the wing tips, I sewed one piece on the front and two behind, then used the tail from the last tip to sew them together so they stay sturdy.
Round 2: [2SC, SC]x3 (9)
Round 3 - 10: SCx9 (9, 8 rounds)
Stuff firmly
Round 11: [SC2tog, SC]x3 (6)
For main centre piece feather, complete all rounds. Then make 2 feathers up to round 8, then skip to stuffing and round 11. For the last 2 outside feathers, make up to round 6, then skip to stuffing and then round 11. Leave a long tail on each and sew onto the chocobo butt.
