Hey everyone!!
I have been working on a few commissions lately which I am so very very excited about. It's another set of the turtles I have made and an order for Garrus from Mass Effect. I'm so excited to be designing this cute little guy and he's really testing my abilities as there are a few pieces which I haven't made the shape of before.
There is also a recipe to be posted when I have time to write it up because I've been playing with panna cotta a lot lately and it's getting me really excited. That and I have gelatin that I haven't used for a while so I'm able to use that all up which is great.
On Tuesday I'm diving into the Thermomix world and having a demo and I'll probably buy a machine because it'll mean that I will have time to cook some tasty foods I haven't been cooking (rissottooooo) and still be able to crochet all the amazing ideas that I have but haven't had time to tinker with.
ANYWAY, that's enough of my boring rambling. I have a two part freebie for you this time as I didn't have enough time to write it all but I was so excited to release it.
MYSTERY PATTERN.
Which I guess would turn out to be quite obvious when I finish the first part anyway so it's not too much of a mystery.
For this little guy you're going to need a pair of 12mm brown eyes and yarn in yellow, blue, grey, white and black.
I'm going to do a series of these guys in all different kinds of outfits so if anybody has any requests, please definitely leave me a comment. :)
And without further ado! The mystery pattern!

Hair - black yarn
To make the hair, insert random loop stitches as you crochet.Have as few or as many as you want but try and randomly place them. In my piece, I had 2 in round 2 and then in round 3 and 4 I had them every 3 - 4 stitches.
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4. [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24)
Round 5. [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30)
Finish off. You don’t have to weave in the tail but you won’t be needing it to sew onto anything.
Head/Body - yellow yarn
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4. [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24)
Round 5. [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30) (in this round, pick up the front loop of each stitch. Make sure the loop stitches are facing down so you can still see the loops when the pieces are crocheted together. This is important or you won’t be able to fix it up later.
This is what it looks like on the inside when the two pieces are crocheted together. |
This is what it looks like with the ride side out and the black on the inside. |
Round 6. [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36)
Round 7 - 9. SCx36 (36, 3 rounds)
Don’t fasten off but pull the loop long so it doesn’t unravel and remove the hook for now.
Go through and cut all of the loops. Then use your crochet hook to pull the loose ends through the head where you want the hair to be.
After you cut all the black loops, you end up with this funny looking little thing. |
Pull as many or as few of these little hair bits through as you think looks cute. |
Round 9 - 23. SCx36 (36, 15 rounds)
Round 24. [SC2tog, SCx4]x6 (30)
Round 25. [SC2tog, SCx3]x6 (24)
Round 26. [SC2tog, SCx2]x6 (18)
Stuff firmly.
Round 27. [SC2tog, SC]x6 (12)
Round 28. SC2togx6 (6)
Fasten off and pull through to close up the hole.
Clothes - blue
Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6)
Round 2: 2SCx6 (12)
Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18)
Round 4. [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24)
Round 5. [2SC, SCx3]x6 (30)
Round 6. [2SC, SCx4]x6 (36)
Round 7 - 11. SCx36 (36, 5 rounds)
Round 12 - 16. Ch and turn. SCx12 (12, 5 rows)
Finish off and leave a long tail to sew this to the body. The rectangle tab you just crocheted with the rows would be the back of the outfit.
Still not sure what this is going to be. Hmm... |
Stay tuned for part 2 of the pattern in another two weeks :)
