Friday Freebies : Teru Teru Bozu

So today, I bring you a free design inspired by the country that I am going to be visiting in another 32 days. I have made a little teru teru bozu doll! To find out more about this doll, please venture over to Wiki . :) This is a very simple pattern and was definitely a lot of fun to make. So I hope this fortnight's pattern didn't disappoint in any way! Head Round 1: CH2, SCx6 in the 2nd stitch from the hook (6) Round 2: 2SCx6 (12) Round 3: [2SC, SC]x6 (18) Round 4: [2SC, SCx2]x6 (24) Round 5 – 8: SCx24 (24, 4 rounds) Round 9: [SC2tog, SCx2]x6 (18) Round 10: [SC2tog, SC]x6 (12) Attach the eyes and stuff firmly. (I attached my eyes between rounds 6 and 7 and about 5 stitches apart.) Round 11: SC2togx6 (6) Sew closed and leave a long tail. Needlefelt on the cute mouth or embroider on, depending on which technique you feel comfortable with. Swishy tail

Commissions

Lately, I have been receiving quite a lot of commissions requests which is greatly exciting for me because it means that I am able to make things that I normally would never have thought of making. The first major out of my usual style of crochet commission would have been the Songbird that was requested of me a short while ago. This was the first gamechanger piece for me as it was my introduction into needlefelting which is a technique that I use in almost all of my pieces now. You will see that being used in the next two commission (present) pieces  because I find that it makes the things I make a lot more adorable, especially when it comes to hair.   When I originally envisioned this boy, I was so unsure of how I was going to do his hair. But thanks to needlefelting, I was also be able to add the patterning on his back!

Updates!

So today I have decided to not continue with my Thursday posts because it was beginning to become a chore and not be so much fun. Boo to that. I want this blog to remain fun. I'm going to definitely keep up with my Fortnightly Freebies though because they're fun and it motivates me to create a lot more small things as well as keep up with my big crochet.  I haven't been crocheting much this week though. There have been so many things happening, such as my computer dying. Now everything is done on my laptop which is a good thing and a bad thing but I'm dealing with it :) Staying positive and keeping a handle on everything. There have been a few issues to work with such as my laptop not having Photoshop. But overall the move has been okay.  This week I baked shortbread with chocolate caramel and then topped with chocolate. They were rich and really delicious (even though I could only eat a very small amount).  If you would like to make some th

Friday Fortnight Freebies~

This time I present to you another Friday pattern and this one I think turned out exceptionally cute even if I do say so myself. I made a little onigiri! Thoughtful Thursdays

Hey everyone!! I swear these weeks are flying by faster and faster and I wonder if I'm actually thinking about things each week as much as I should. I have started a new job that I absolutely love. There is a learning curve and I have to learn to slow down so that everything I do is perfect rather than trying to rush forward and progress so my aim for this coming week is to slow down just a little to help myself become a better worker! I have been thinking about eating healthy this week. Eating healthy when I can and the easiest way to do it without blowing my budget. So the first thing I changed were my breakfast eating habits.  That is...to actually start eating breakfast. As I start work really early in the morning, usually I skip breakfast and then by the time lunch rolls around, I am starving. So to aid with that, I have been making myself breakfast every other night to eat the following day. So what does a time hungry, budget focussed person eat for breakfast

Another week Another Thursday

Productivity vs Time vs Convenience  I was thinking on the bus ride home today, how different the past week has been compared to the previous weeks of my life. I am a very "productive" kind of oriented person. All of the minutes of my day are spent being productive or thinking about ways I can be productive. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean I'm a workaholic and only do serious things, but productive in the sense I must always be doing something. Then there comes the majority of the time where I'm also doing multiple things because it always feels like I'm never productive enough. I don't spend a lot of time on downtime/relax time during the week but I've learnt to give myself downtime on the weekend. But also because I spend my weekends at my boyfriend's house instead of my own and have realized that if I don't take productive things to his house, I tend to relax a lot more and spend my time split between RPGs on the PS3 and Sims 3
